At EDG, we specialize in projects that blend thoughtful design with real impact — including large-scale refinances that bring existing apartments up to UFAS/ADA standards.
We’ve partnered with LIHC and Metropolitan Realty Group for years, completing thousands of units over the last decade. Our collaborations focus on improving accessibility and quality of life for residents with disabilities. The scope of work includes the construction of ADA-compliant kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. It also involves the installation of new kitchen cabinets, countertops, and accessible plumbing fixtures, and all bathrooms fully upgraded with new tile, grab bars, and compliant fixtures. Additionally, each unit received fresh flooring, paint, and lighting throughout. Our team is delivering updated architectural drawings and, in some case, structural and plumbing drawings to support the refinance effort and secure a better interest rate — all while ensuring unit meets UFAS guidelines.

As part of our accessibility upgrade, we carefully survey each property to identify comfortable, UFAS-compliant routes into the building — and we go even further by assessing every unit for potential conversion to meet UFAS standards. The challenge? Retrofitting existing layouts to meet strict accessibility guidelines is no easy task —But with creative problem-solving and smart design, we find solutions that make the tenant more comfortable while working within a strict budget. Accessibility is more than compliance — it’s about dignity, comfort, and thoughtful design. That’s the EDG approach.
