Transforming A Lifestyle Retail Flagship Store

All Projects

OVERVIEW

At the intersection of Madison Avenue and East 80th Street, the Alo Concept Studio + Store is meant to emerge as a modern retail gem on the Upper East Side.

Our restoration work of the storefront and facade for the property set the stage for a newly redesigned interior space, which captivates pedestrians and passing vehicles to revitalize the cloistered storefront and establish a strong presence in this prestigious neighborhood. To attract premier commercial tenants, the SITT Asset Management enlisted ED GArchitecture + Engineering to fully renovate and redesign the 9,100-square-foot retail space, including the basement as a concept for Alo Yoga. The project aimed to transform the fortified building base into an open, inviting retail environment that would appeal to potential tenants and customers alike.

APPROACH

We conducted a detailed structural analysis to enhance spatial flow and connect the interior with the exterior.

By relocating the staircase and adding expansive windows, we made the space more welcoming, visible from the exterior and a magnet for Alo’s studio and retail space. Our design team carefully selected modern materials and warm finishes, creating a contemporary yet contextually sensitive aesthetic. We also provided tenant-specific layouts and rapid renderings to assist the property manager with the design and evaluation process.

IMPACT

The reimagined Alo Concept Studio + Store has turned a previously overlooked corner into a vibrant retail destination.

The light-filled, airy interiors enhance the shopping experience and create a vibrant and dynamic space at the base of the building, all while contributing to the neighborhood's varied architectural landscape.
