FlexJet Terminal

FlexJet Private Terminal

Scope

One of the world’s busiest private airports, Teterboro Airport is the oldest operating airport in the New York/New Jersey area. EDG was brought on for the renovation and reconfiguration of the lounge and office spaces as well as back-of-house operations for the new FlexJet terminal at Teterboro. EDG also created a custom jet canopy with a modern aesthetic to shield the planes from rain, sun, and other weather.

Approach

EDG worked with FlexJet’s in-house team to create a sophisticated and contemporary series of spaces for both customers and on-site staff. The space aims to be a natural extension of your trip – so you receive the same excellence of care both on the ground pre-flight and in the air.

Impact

The final result is an enlarged guest lounge with an updated pantry/bar area as well as additional conference rooms for business needs. The reconfigured rear area is fit for a modernized administration office space including a new training room for corporate operations.

Promenade Locker Room Renovation

Promenade Locker Room Renovation

Scope

Built in 1986, the Promenade in Lenox Hill offers luxury living and fabulous views, but was in need of an update for its amenities spaces. EDG handled the complete renovation and reconfiguration of the rooftop spa and locker areas for the tower pool deck, including shower areas, saunas, and steam rooms along with massage areas.

Approach

Taking cues from the original post-modern design, the spaces borrow from the geometry and materiality of the existing building, an ode to the history of the property. The renovated spaces are replete with luxurious materials and lighting and the styling is meant to create an atmosphere of warmth and calm.

Impact

The spaces are completely transformed from their previous utilitarian state to a series of elegant spaces with a refined palette of materials. From the various exotic marbles to scalloped concrete and sintered stone, every portion of the interior has been thoughtfully considered.

Mosaic Office

The Mosaic office’s open office design seamlessly integrated spaces dedicated to concentration, teamwork, and innovative idea generation. Working closely with the client, the design team gained a deep understanding of the company’s mission, goals, and operational procedures. They adeptly incorporated various workspace layouts that fostered and harmonized with the critical elements conducive to enhancing productivity. Moreover, with the office’s early beginnings in mind, the design team strived to include adaptable features capable of evolving alongside the company’s expansion. The design encompassed numerous meeting and collaborative zones, open office seating, a staff pantry, and dedicated focus rooms.

Located on the second and third sub-cellars of the Lotte New York Palace, the parking garage serves all patrons and employees of the hotel. As the work took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, EDG was offered the rare opportunity to work in a completely unoccupied garage, allowing a $2 million repair project from document preparation to repair to be completed in just over four months.

Impact

EDG provided weekly 360° scanning services during the entirety of the project so the hotel owner could monitor project progress from overseas. Since the successful implementation of scanning technology at the Lotte New York Palace, EDG has continued to provide scanning services on other projects, offering clients the opportunity to “walk the job site” from the comfort and safety of their home or office.

The Stonewall Inn

The Stonewall Inn

Scope

This property is an iconic building and national monument in the Greenwich Village Historic District in Manhattan. A complete survey of the façade was performed to evaluate the existing conditions, and detailed repair plans were prepared to perform necessary maintenance work to the building exterior. Great care was taken during the specification of repair materials/methods due to the building’s historical prominence and the necessity for maintaining the façade’s historic properties. The repair work was filed with the D.O.B. and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Approach

Renovating a historic building is very challenging, given the difficulties of replicating past repair techniques and materials via today’s modern construction standards. Preserving a piece of American history is a great responsibility. To achieve optimal results without altering the historic integrity, EDG coordinated each phase of work while maintaining close communication with team members, contractors, and ownership. Construction methods and specified materials have been studied and tested per New York City’s Landmarks Preservation Commission requirements to ensure the final product is most successful.
